Donations help purchase 15 Nikon D70 digital cameras for a photography program that aims to empower low-income, at-risk teens, which enables the organization to add an intermediate digital class to its current roster of beginners and advanced classes.

The following post is a project update from Nick Gauna, Campaign Organizer, and the Youth in Focus Grassroots campaign that raised $4,720 to purchase Nikon D70 digital cameras for a photography program that aims to empower low-income, at-risk teens.
Seattle – At Youth in Focus, we work with at-risk youth who face a variety of challenges and obstacles in their lives. But through our youth-development photography program, we are able to teach them how to turn negatives into positives.
The camera is the tool that our students use to gain self-confidence, become empowered, and explore their creativity. Due to the overwhelming support of the Groupon community, we were able to purchase DSLR/SLR cameras, which meant we could offer an additional class for youth to be able to tell their story through a camera lens. As we start the celebration of our 20th year and serving more than 3,000 youth, we are grateful for the partnership with such innovative organizations as Groupon Grassroots.
